Prima di tutto ci hanno raccontato che ora stiamo vivendo il solstizio invernale, cioè il periodo dei giorni più corti e le notti più lunghi. Passati questi due-tre giorni, il sole inizierà a trattenersi sempre di più e di conseguenza la luce pian piano inizierà a conquistare le giornate sempre di più. In antichità alcuni popoli, soprattutto quelli del Nord, stanchi delle lunghe notti buie invernali, festeggiavano il solstizio, accendendo un falò, una candela o una lanterna. In questo modo credevano di aiutare il Sole a riprendere la sua forza.

Через пару-тройку дней солнце постепенно станет задерживаться на горизонте подольше, а световые дни будут становиться длиннее. В древности некоторые народы, особенно северные, уставшие от тёмных и бесконечных зимних ночей, по случаю солнцестояния зажигали костёр, свечу или фонарик. Таким образом они стремились помочь Солнцу восстановить свою силу.
